Placements

You will train in two or more of our excellent schools, learning alongside outstanding teachers. We offer teaching training across a wide range of subjects at Primary, Secondary and Higher Education.

During the Autumn and Summer Term you will be on placement at a specific alliance school dependent on your chosen subject. During the Spring Term you will be on placement in a different school within our Alliance. Placements will be in schools of contrasting natures from which you will have the opportunity to benefit from first-class professional development.

It is important that you are able to travel as placements will be in our Alliance schools across Bury Local Authority. Trainees may also have joint professional development sessions in Alliance schools.

Join us and we will ensure you gain the skills you need to become an outstanding teacher and potential leader of the future!

Our lead ITT School is based at St. Gabriel’s R.C. High School in Bury

Our Courses for 2015 - 2016

All candidates applying for PGCE Primary or Secondary School Direct for September entry will need to sit pre-entry skills tests in Numeracy and Literacy.  No unconditional offer will be made until both tests have been passed.  You are therefore strongly advised to have passed these tests prior to interview.  If you are offered a place conditional on passing these tests, they should be completed before August of your entry year to satisfy this aspect of the condition.  For late applications, priority will be given to those who have already passed the tests.

You will need to demonstrate evidence of substantial relevant experience in a UK primary or secondary school ( depending on your choice of PGCE ).  This experience should have been within the last two years, must have been completed prior to submitting an application and should be a minimum of three weeks for Primary Education and a Minimum of two weeks for Secondary specialisms.
