PSHE / Citizenship - Effective SMSC across the whole school

Course Information:

Covering:

  • What is your ethos?
  • What do you understand by SMSC?
  • How do you audit what is being done? - Examples of how SOWs can be audited and SMSC logged.
  • Whole school initiatives - Diversity Day / Sixth Form Values day - sharing resources for lessons and also staff training.
  • How to get pupils on board - examples of school council work on anti-bullying programme

 This course will help your school develop the appropriate climate and ethos to promote Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural education across the school and enable pupils to flourish as individuals, grow in confidence and respect and appreciate their own worth and that of others. The course will look at SMSC in PSHE/Citizenship subject areas, as well as examples of SMSC in all other subjects at KS3, KS 4 and KS5.

ART - Textile Embellishment Techniques

Course Information:

Who is the course for? - Teachers of GCSE Art and Design and Art Textiles specifications who want to develop texture in their students work.
Level: GCSE
Course Outline:  Learn how to create a range of embellishment techniques using textile & paper materials which are suitable for textile or mixed media outcomes which demonstrate evidence of AO2
Create the samples and present them visually as an A02 media techniques board ready for use with students

HISTORY - Maximising potential.  Creating an aspirational culture for GCSE History

Course Information:

A course aimed at teachers of AQA History, Modern World. The focus of the course is how to create an aspirational culture in your department in order to maximise the potential of your pupils. Particular focus is given to raising the number of A/A* grades your pupils can achieve in a mixed ability setting, raising standards for all.  A range of techniques and ideas will be presented that have helped St. Monica’s History Department to consistently deliver outstanding results over the last four years.
