Options - Year 9

On Friday 9th March, Year 9 pupils will be issued with the new Key Stage 4 Option Booklet at a special assembly.

Parents will have the opportunity to hear the assembly at the Key Stage 4 Evening on Thursday 15th March 2017 at 6.00pm in the School Hall. The assembly will cover the options process, the criteria for choosing subjects and information on government reforms of the curriculum. A letter confirming these details, together with a reply slip will be published next week.

The school is holding a KS4 Evening for parents of all Year 9 pupils on Thursday 15th March 2017 at 6.00pm.  It is an important time for Year 9 as they approach the end of Key Stage 3 and start to think about courses for next year.  The KS4 Evening is for parents to gain a better understanding of the demands of GCSE, and of the subjects that pupils will follow next year.  Some subjects are compulsory and some will be optional.  It is important that, as a school, we ensure that each child follows a broad and balanced curriculum at KS4 and this evening is part of that process.

Year 9 Parents’ Evening is on Thursday 22nd March and will be held in the HUB.  Please enter via the HUB reception and sign in.

If a pupil wishes to study Computer Science and Triple Science, they can indicate Computer Science in Block One. In order to assess possible numbers, please could all pupils wanting to take Computer Science in either Block 1 or Block 3 choose a reserve subject from the same block.

In the options booklet is a list of the courses available and some information on them to help you to make the necessary choices.
