Positive Steps Careers Advice Service
Our Careers Advice Service is provided by an independent company called Positive Steps.
This is a service offered to all young people between the ages of 13 and 19 providing impartial information, advice and guidance. The Service adds to the support already offered by school staff to enable young people to fulfil their potential and make a successful start to their adult life.
All students between years 9 and 11 will be invited to a career appointment in school to discuss their options and ideas with someone who is trained to help and knows all about what is available – from college courses to apprenticeships and training, to university and employment.
In addition to support offered within school Positive Steps also provides ongoing support to students during the transition from Year 11 into training, employment or further education.

Jane Lancaster is our Positive Steps careers advisor. She is in school on Tuesday’s and Friday’s and is located in the careers office in the LRC. Jane interviews students for 30 minutes and will give each pupil a printed action plan to take with them. This action plan summarises what was discussed in the interview and sets the pupil some research tasks to do. Jane also has drop in sessions on Tuesday and Friday lunch times. Students do not need to book an appointment for these drop in sessions.
